Cuban Has Opinions On Sterling Controversy, But Won't Share

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is among the most opinionated owners in the NBA.

So how does he feel about the racist comments allegedly made by Clippers owner Donald Sterling?

"I have plenty of opinions, I'm just not going to share them," said Cuban prior to Saturday's Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center.

Cuban denies that the league mandated silence surrounding the issue, just saying that commenting is not "the right thing to do."

"There's no reason that we have to restate the obvious," said Cuban. "It just turns into headlines more. Some things are better where the comments just stand on their own, and let people come to their own conclusions on it."

The NBA is currently investigating whether or not the comments were actually made by Sterling. In the audio obtained by TMZ, the voice, which allegedly belongs to Sterling, says it bothers him that his girlfriend posted photos of herself with black people on Instagram.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle declined to comment prior to the game, saying he had yet to hear the alleged comments.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich issued a short but direct response, calling the comments "disgusting."

But while people want Cuban, one of the most polarizing and entertaining figures in the NBA to comment, he simply doesn't feel the need to.

"Sometimes, people think they have to comment on everything in this day and age," said Cuban, "and sometimes, when somebody says something, it's better just to let be what's said be the headline."
