CLEVELAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Dramatic timing.

Both words accurately describe what happened during Senator Ted Cruz's afternoon rally in Cleveland today. Perhaps a little ironic too.

The moment Cruz said "Our party now has a nominee," Donald Trump's plane flew over the crowd. Hundreds of people were there, including Texas delegates and those from other states.

Cruz supporters hurled a few "boos" and seemed to grumble a bit among themselves as they pointed at the plane before seeing the humor in the situation.

"That was pretty well orchestrated," said Senator Cruz from the stage as the crowd chuckled. "Jeff, did you email them to fly the plane right when I said that?" he jokingly asked his former campaign manager Jeff Roe.

People in the crowd were heard saying, "Oh my God," and laughing saying, "That's funny!"

Cruz is scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention tonight. He may introduce his vice-presidential nominee, Indiana Governor Mike Pence before his speech.

"You know there's a lot of talk about unity, I want to see unity, and the way to see unity is for us to unite behind shared principles, us to unite in defense of liberty," he said to cheers from the crowd.

Cruz didn't say whether or not he will endorse Trump at the rally.

CBSDFW.COM has a crew at the rally who caught the crowd's reaction.

Watch it above.
