NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Last week's contentious GOP presidential primary debate seems to have solidified Texas Senator Ted Cruz's standing in the latest KTVT-CBS 11 / Dixie Strategies Poll. Taken Friday, February 26 after Thursday's debate, the poll surveyed over 1,300 likely GOP primary voters and was the second taken this February. The first February poll was taken on February 22.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio has also closed the gap on real estate mogul Donald Trump. Experts say ultimately the results in Tuesday's election could hinge on voter turn-out in what can be described as a very unorthodox year for primary elections for both parties.

According to the poll results, Cruz is now ten points ahead of Trump. In the previous poll, he was eight points ahead. Trump now sits at seven points ahead of Rubio where in the previous poll he was ten percentage points ahead.

According to Jon Woodward with Dixie Strategies – who partnered with CBS 11 on the poll – turnout is going to be key. He says Trump turns out voters who traditionally don't vote in primaries and that he "needs to turn out them in high numbers to make up the 9.5% he trails."

This poll contains the results of a telephone survey of 1,323 "likely" Republican Presidential Primary voters statewide. The Margin of Error is ± 2.7%. The results were gathered February 26, 2016.
