Fort Worth Firefighters Rescue Pet Frog From Blaze

WESTWORTH VILLAGE (CBSDFW.COM) - The Fort Worth Fire Department took over emergency services in the city of Westworth Village in July, and they battled their first blaze in the community late Tuesday night. The incident happened just before 11:00 p.m. at a home in the 5700 block of Tracyne Drive, near Tanny Street.

According to officials, the fire actually started in a boat that was parked in the home's driveway. However, the flames were quickly spreading to the home's attic when crews arrived at the scene. Firefighters attacked the blaze and were quickly able to get the situation under control.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

Crews searched the building, but found nobody inside.

A family member later arrived and explained that the home's owners were out of the state. She asked officials about the family's pet frog and crews were able to retrieve the animal unharmed and still in its enclosure. The frog was reunited it with the daughter of the homeowners.

Officials have estimated that the fire caused a total of $60,000 in damages.
