OXNARD, California (105.3 THE FAN) - Tyrone Crawford, after sitting out Monday's first day of full-pad training-camp practice, tells me panicky concerns about his health are unfounded.
"I'm good,'' the Cowboys defensive tackle said following the workout. "It's just my back right now. (It's a) short-term thing.''
Assuming the Crawford diagnosis is correct (he underwent an MRI on Sunday after also missing that workout with the team suggesting it was a "monitoring'' move related to his offseason shoulder repair), the Cowboys are breathing a sigh of relief. Crawford said he'd battled back problems before, none of them too concerning … but Dallas is especially thin on talent in the D-line, where Crawford, 26, is expected to blossom into a standout from the group.
"We have a good plan for him," coach Jason Garrett said, trying to say nothing at all. "We'll take the situation day-by-day."
According to Crawford himself, "day-to-day'' shouldn't be too long at all.
