DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police are investigating a deadly crash that happened along the LBJ Freeway early Thursday morning.

It was just before 2:00 a.m. when two people were killed while in the westbound lanes of LBJ, just past TI Boulevard.

An officer on the scene told CBS 11 News that a Toyota Camry, with a driver and passenger inside, appeared to have broken down and attempted to pull off on the shoulder near the Coit Road exit.

The two people, who were outside of the car at the time, were hit by an oncoming SUV.

A traffic investigative team and the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office were called the scene. Officials say the victims were a 35-year-old man and a boy in his teens.

Police are still investigating the crash, but said there are no criminal charges pending.
