AT&T Stadium went silent as Hurns was being placed on the cart, and fans watched in shock of his injury.
Head coach Jason Garrett could be seen holding Hurns' hand as he lay on the stretcher.
He was eventually taken off the field and gave a thumbs-up as he left. He remained out the rest of the game.
Hurns joined the Cowboys before the start of the season on a two-year deal after being a part of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
