IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - In the most logically linear Cowboys signing of the spring, young veteran free-agent offensive lineman Joe Looney has signed a two-year deal with Dallas.

Why logical and linear? Because the acquisition of Looney is a direct response to the departure of the older and likely more expensive Mackenzy Bernaudeau, who is Jacksonville-bound.

Bernadeau's value to the Cowboys was his ability to play not only both guard spots but to back up at center as well. Looney, a 315-pound former fourth-round pick who at age 25 has played for the Niners and Titans, has the exact same important credentials.
