ARLINGTON (CBSDFW) - Traditionally, December has been a difficult month for the Dallas Cowboys schedule. Now, a state of Texas tradition may be compromised by the Cowboys schedule at AT&T Stadium.

The Dallas Cowboys are scheduled to host the New York Jets on Saturday, December 19th at AT&T Stadium. That game conflicts with the three UIL state football championship games scheduled for the Cowboys home stadium on the same day.

AT&T Stadium has hosted High School state championship football games since 2011.

When reached by CBS 11 this morning, Cowboys officials were optimistic that the conflict "will get worked out."

While it's not uncommon for the NFL to schedule late season games on Saturdays, it's been a rarity that the Cowboys host a regular season game on a Saturday. In the last 40 years, the Cowboys have played only five Saturday regular season games at home.

The last two years, AT&T Stadium has attracted record breaking crowds to watch high school championship games.

In 2013, a state record 54,347 fans watched Allen defeat Pearland in the Class 5A Division I title game.

Last year, 52,308 gathered at the stadium to see Allen beat Cypress Ranch in the Class 6A Division I championship.
