FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys' cut to 53 on Saturday is anything but final, as the pursuit of much-traveled QB Mark Sanchez indicates.

Dallas' moves: The cuts are LB Derek Akunne (North Texas), C Jake Brendel (UCLA), DT Rodney Coe (Akron), CB Isaiah Frey (Nevada), TE Rico Gathers (Baylor), LB Brandon Hepburn (Florida A&M), QB Jerrod Johnson (Texas A&M), WR Andy Jones (Jacksonville, Fla.), LB Deon King (Norfolk State), T Ryan Mack (Memphis), WR Vince Mayle (Washington State), CB Deji Olatoye (North Carolina), DE Lawrence Okoye (No College), DE Ryan Russell (Purdue), G Boston Stiverson (Kansas State), WR Devin Street (Pittsburgh), TE Austin Traylor (Wisconsin), K Matt Wile (Michigan) and T Bryan Witzmann (South Dakota State).

The team waived/injured DE Mike McAdoo (North Carolina), put onto the NFI list RB Darren McFadden (Arkansas), and official shifted to the reserved/suspended list DE DeMarcus Lawrence (Boise State).

But QB is where it's at right now for Dallas, which must decide whether to keep injured QB Tony Romo on the active roster or IR him (which would keep him from playing for eight weeks).

The team is now planning to do a deal with Broncos cut QB Sanchez, the much-traveled former first-rounder who is coming to Dallas (confirmed by DallasCowboys.com) as a backup to temp starter Dak Prescott.
