Cowboys Plan To Proceed Without Hardy

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys are proceeding through 'Giants Week' as if All-Pro pass-rusher Greg Hardy will be unavailable for Week 1 - though his replacement at tight end, incumbent team sack leader Jeremy Mincey, seems unconcerned.

'Fierce," Mincey says. "That's the word. This defense plans on being fierce."

That's not a diss of the New York Giants. Nor is it a downplaying of Hardy, the defensive end who was suspended for four games. But it is concession to the idea Hardy won't appeal his domestic-violence penalty and be ready to play on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.

"Our thoughts are right now are we are accepting that he won't be here for four games," COO Stephen Jones tells "Shan & RJ" on 105.3 The Fan. "If that were to change for the better, then great. But right now we're making plans as if he's going to be suspended for four games and ready to move forward."
