DALLAS (The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys' new team headquarters in Frisco will, as 105.3 The Fan reported early Friday, be sponsored by Ford Motor Co., as both announced in an afternoon press conference at the five-acre site to be christened the "Ford Center at The Star.''

The team headquarters, indoor practice facility and entertainment/shopping/hotel complex is slated for an August 2016 opening, with part of next year's Cowboys training camp to be staged here. The city of Frisco and Frisco ISD are also involved in the project, touted as the finest facility of its kind.

"At the end of the day, the big picture is the relationship with the kids here," said Stephen Jones, Cowboys COO. In Ford's case, he said, "they've been supporting high school football for many years and given back to these kids. This will enhance that."

Frisco ISD will stage football games and other events at the multi-use stadium, which seats 12,000 indoors, along with two outdoor fields included in the development.
