OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys have already hinted that they are preparing to move along from erstwhile star linebacker Rolando McClain ... and now we may have more specifics about why he is willing to move on, too.

We have written in the space that McClain cares more about his substance abuse, his fishin' hole and his family back in 'Bama than he cares about Cowboys football.

The specifics of McClain's substance abuse: an addition to "Purple Drank," according to a credible story from Jason Cole of Bleacher Report.

"Purple Drank" is a "party drug" combination of codeine-based cough syrup and soda pop. It fits with McClain's history of failing NFL drug tests, The latest of which has him suspended for the first 10 games of the upcoming Dallas season.

There are financial concerns being juggled as the Cowboys prepare to part from McClain. But those who care about him are more concerned about him parting ways with his substance abuse.

As one Cowboys teammate tells me, "I am close to Ro. I am worried about him - and not about anything related to football."
