Cowboys Making Changes With Christine And La'el

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - These aren't "official'' moves in the sense that Cowboys-watchers wait for white smoke to rise above The Vatican. But they are important moves, and they are coming.

Sources tell 105.3 The Fan that in addition to Dallas' decision to switch from Brandon Weeden to Matt Cassell at QB, the club — in the midst of an 0-3 skid while playing without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant — will also look at position shuffles at running back and left guard.

Texas A&M product Christine Michael is about to get a shot at carrying the ball with the first team.

Prized LSU rookie La'el Collins is about to get a shot at blocking for him at left guard.

Dallas' offense was highly unproductive in Sunday's 30-6 loss to New England and this week's bye affords the Cowboys the ideal time to examine changes. Michael is a former second-round pick who can be a downhill runner … if Dallas' vaunted line opens up holes, which it hopes Collins can help do.

More Michael would mean less Joe Randle and Darren McFadden. The elevation of Collins would mean the benching of left guard Ron Leary, who is playing hurt but has given up two sacks and four QB hurries in 114 pass snaps while Collins, in 57 pass snaps, has yet to give up a sack, a hit or a hurry.
