LOS ANGELES (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys have agreed to terms with Travis Frederick on a six-year contract extension that will make him the highest-paid center in the league, Dallas COO Stephen Jones confirmed with me during the first half of his team's exhibition opener at the Rams.

Frederick's contract (first noted by NFL.com) is worth $56.4 million, with $18.2 million fully guaranteed and $28.2 million in total guarantees.

Its total value surpasses the $45-mil deal Atlanta recently gave center Alex Mack.

Frederick (who up until Saturday was scheduled to make about $2 mil this year and about $8 mil next year) has been a Pro Bowler in each of the past two seasons and is a key to Dallas' potentially NFL-best offensive line.

The Cowboys view him as a "team-captain-type'' and as the best center in the NFL … and will now pay him that way.
