Cowboys Lucky Accepts The Punishment And Apologizes

FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - Lucky Whitehead's AWOL-related apologies came in three forms as his behavior caused him to be absent from the Cowboys' loss at New York on Sunday to teammates for actions that led to him being left behind for the Cowboys game against the New York Giants.

"We preach '17 inches' around here, get everything right,'' Whitehead said of a team slogan that speaks to boundaries and accountability. "I take responsibility for that."

Whitehead, the kick returner and punt returner and back-up receiver, partied on Friday night to the point where he failed to show up for work on Saturday morning before the trip to New York. When he finally did show up at Cowboys headquarters at 10 a.m. Saturday – three hours late – coach Jason Garrett sent him home.

"I talked to my guys, I apologized and I won't let it happen again," said Whitehead, Who spoke to the team, the wide receiver group, and the media. "I took the punishment and I'll move forward from here.''
