IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys might still have a "Running Back By Committee.'' But the committee now has a new chairman.

Dallas plans to start Darren McFadden this Sunday against visiting Seattle, in large part due to his performance last week in a 27-20 loss at New York in which he rushed 29 times for 152 yards.

"It was good to see that he had it in him," coach Jason Garrett said of the eight-year veteran who will make his first start at a Cowboy. "Once he got going in that ballgame I think we all felt that let's keep giving this guy the rock. I just thought he played really really well in the game and took advantage of an opportunity."

There is another factor involved here, as Joe Randle left that game with an oblique injury and was at best limited at Wednesday workout. Still, Garrett suggested that McFadden would start against the Seahawks regardless of Randle's situation. Christine Michael is presently third on the depth chart. Rookie Rod Smith is also on the roster.

For the season, McFadden is averaging 4.3 yards per carry — his best such number since 2011. The Cowboys expected their running game to be dominant even with DeMarco Murray gone to Philly based on the strength of the offensive line. They now expect more of the same … with Darren McFadden the beneficiary.
