OXNARD, California (105.3 THE FAN) - Tony Romo will sit out Tuesday's training camp practice as part of his "maintenance'' program — and also because Tuesday will include short-yardage and goal-line work, and for the QB, discretion is the better part of valor.
Same with rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, though unlike Romo, Elliott actually has a minor physical issue, a tight hamstring."He is making progress,'' coach Jason Garrett said. "He'll continue to work on the side. He's done a little more each day."
But the Cowboys will be getting some defensive help back on the field. Tyrone Crawford (back) tells me he plans to return to practice Tuesday. And Garrett added that two other front-line defensive tackles, Terrell McClain (toe) and Cedric Thornton (virus), should also be good to go.
The Cowboys are also hoping for a return for linebacker Kyle Wilber, who has been sidelined with a back ailment.
