Cowboys, Giants Briefed On Ebola 'Education'

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) -- The Cowboys and Giants, and the rest of the teams in the NFL, are in the process of briefing their players about Ebola, an immediate concern in DFW -- where the two NFC East foes will play Sunday -- because of the three confirmed Ebola cases here.

"The biggest thing is so they are educated and understand where it is," Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said. "It's just education."

The Duke Infection Control Outreach Network serves as the NFL's infectious disease consultant and is working to educate teams about the disease, which is widespread in parts of Africa and this month caused the death of Thomas Eric Duncan in Dallas. Two nurses that treated Duncan have also contracted the disease.

Recently, Giants co-owner Steve Tisch joked that the Cowboys "are going to get it first, so it's to (the Giants) advantage.''

The league now realizes that education is more appropriate than jokes.
