Cowboys Getting Second Opinion On Byron Jones' Shoulder

OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys are sending first-round rookie defensive back Byron Jones for a second medical opinion on his injured left shoulder while continuing to insist it's a precautionary measure.

"We're getting a second opinion,'' COO Stephen Jones said Monday. "We feel good about his situation, but obviously, we've got a lot invested there and we want to make sure we do it right.''

Jones sprained his shoulder in a Sunday collision with teammate Mo Claiborne. Jones himself reported immediate concern because the injury occurred tp the same shoulder that was surgically repaired in college a year ago.

"I was worried,'' Jones himself said after participating in the morning walkthrough (but before being held out of the afternoon session against the visiting St. Louis Rams). "But after a half-hour, I got strength back (in the shoulder). I'll be fine.''

Indeed, an MRI performed on Monday came back negative, suggesting again that this is a precautionary measure.
