Cowboys Focus: It's All Giants

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) — The Cowboys insist that their focus is on Sunday night's game against the Giants and not the myriad sidebars that go along with having the high profile of a 7-3 team -- including a crunch of nationally-televised games, decisions to make contract-wise and the flattery that comes with Pro Bowl votes.
Rookie right guard Zack Martin is among the Cowboys who occupy the top spots in all-star game voting as he leads all NFL guards in the selection process.
"We're focusing on New York,'' Martin said, "and if it really doesn't have anything to do with that then we're not worried about it.''
Running back DeMarco Murray, center Travis Frederick, tackle Tyron Smith and kicker Dan Bailey also lead in votes at their positions.
Meanwhile, Murray is also among the many players who are playing on the final years of their deals, a group that includes standouts Dez Bryant, Rolando McClain and Bruce Carter. But Carter insists he's so focused on the task at hand that it wasn't until returning to Valley Ranch on Tuesday following the bye week that he realized Dallas' immediate crunch of games includes the Sunday nighter at New York followed by the Thanksgiving home game against Philly three-and-a-half days later and then yet another roadie just seven days later, at Chicago.
The Cowboys' focus level might be something more than just gum-flapping, as evidenced by coach Jason Garrett's record in road games in the NFC East, where Dallas is 8-3 during his tenure.
"I want to make this clear,'' Garrett said while fielding an assortment of questions at his Wednesday presser, "our complete focus is on the Giants.''
