IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent is back with the organization, now working in the team's scouting department at Valley Ranch.
Team owner/General Manager Jerry Jones revealed the news at Thursday's practice, a continuation of the team's promise to embrace the player who in 2013 was involved in a fatal car crash while driving under the influence, an accident that killed best friend and teammate Jerry Brown Jr.
"He's worked very hard to find some normalcy in his life," coach Jason Garrett said earlier this week. "I admire him in many ways."
Brent retired from football earlier this year after trying to make a return to the team last year. He was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to six months in jail plus 10 years of probation but carries on with the help of the Cowboys and the support of Brown's mother.
