ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - Dak Prescott's brilliant performance for the 4-1 Cowboys has fueled what some people think is a QB controversy.
Tony Romo is about to get MRI results that owner Jerry Jones says will quell the controversy before it truly begins.
"Tony is our No. 1 quarterback," Jones said Sunday following Dallas' 28-14 drubbing of the Bengals. "We're going to have the luxury of being able to, I think, see them both."
The Cowboys may "see them both" at practice this week as Romo ramps back up to being the starting quarterback in Dallas.
Romo is set to undergo an MRI on Monday that the team expects to show a healed bone in his back broken in preseason.
"I do expect a good report Monday," Jones said. "I know that Tony is feeling better."
And when he does, probably in time for the Oct. 30 meeting with the Eagles? The plan is for Romo to regain his job.
"I welcome the opportunity of having Dak playing at this level and Tony back in excellent health," Jones said with a comment designed to downplay the controversy that, whether Dallas likes it or not, goes with the territory of having discovered a young stud who is in a position to eventually take over for an old stud.
