Cowboys' Brandon Carr Tackles Flint Water Crisis

DALLAS (CBS11 SPORTS) - Cowboys defensive back Brandon Carr has not missed a game in his eight NFL seasons. Now, his durability is being put to the test in a much more serious way.

Carr, originally from Flint, Michigan, has decided to tackle the Flint water contamination crisis.

Carr has donated more than $100,000 because in his words, "kids didn't ask for this, it's injustice to see them in this situation."

Carr's father, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins still reside in Flint, Michigan.

Naturally, he says the problem there hits close to home. But while his family may be in a better position than most, he stresses it's unacceptable to not pitch in because he doesn't want to see those who have no exit plan get left behind.

In the coming weeks, Carr plans to head home to meet with government officials in an effort to see what more can be done to solve the water crisis.

After four seasons as a Dallas Cowboy, Carr says this is his toughest opponent yet.
