DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A confrontation in Denton has led to the death of a 21-year-old man and a murder charge for a 16-year-old.

The 16-year-old shooter turned himself into Denton police shortly after the incident in the 1200 block of Paco Trail Monday evening.

A witness told police they heard a gunshot, then saw the victim -- identified as Jimmy Castro-Almazan -- on the ground. Investigators said that the teenage suspect and Castro-Almazan both live on Paco Trail in Denton. Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding their confrontation near the street. Sometime during the fight, the suspect took out a small caliber firearm and fired multiple shots in the direction of the Castro-Almazan striking him one time. Castro-Almazan was taken via ambulance to Denton Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators have yet to recover the weapon.

The 16-year-old shooter remains in custody at Denton County Juvenile Detention.

The investigation is ongoing.
