Collin County Soldier Surprises Daughters At Birthday Party

LAVON (CBSDFW.COM) - A little girl's birthday party in Collin County turned into surprise party when she received the one thing she wanted the most.
Her daddy, Staff Sgt Edgar Wilkinson, who had been serving in Kuwait for the past year, wrapped himself up in a box and waited for the right moment to reveal himself.
7- year-old Jayden was reluctant to even have her birthday party without her father. Her family organized a gathering with friends Saturday at the Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen.
Jayden's mother gave her a card her father had written earlier in the day. When she finished, he popped out from under the box where he was hiding.
Wilkinson said he spent several minutes waiting in the box, feeling nervous.
"Anxiety, not knowing how they would react. But just overwhelming joy afterward. Because once they ran up and jumped into my arms. That was it. That was all I cared about," he said.
Wilkinson says he spent months planning the surprise. He arrived home Wednesday, but spent several nights in a hotel just to pull off the big reveal.
