Collin County Residents Blame Poor Drainage From Construction On Flooding

LAVON (CBSDFW.COM) — Kathy Coleman says she says flood waters became an unexpected house guest on this Father's Day.
The Lavon resident who lives on Lake Road near State Highway 78, says it only took 30 minutes for water to fill her front and backyards, then eventually inside the front of her house.
Coleman and other residents in the area blame the flooding on improper drainage from road construction on 78.

She showed us a photo from Lavon Mayor Charles Teske of what it looked like in front of her house at the time. Coleman says the water damaged their dining room, and that they will now need to replace the floor. They placed sandbags out front which may have prevented further damage.

Coleman says the water was so powerful, it pushed her shed in the backyard about ten feet. "I'm irritated about it because it happened on Mother's Day as well. Not quite to this extent and they were made aware they weren't doing drainage properly."
Others we spoke with who live down Lake Road, say they also had water on their yards, but not inside their homes.
Coleman says the construction caused flooding on the other side of 78 as well.
I have calls out to Lavon's mayor and TXDOT, but haven't heard back just yet.
