FARMERSVILLE (CBS11) - A disaster relief resource center in Collin County opened Wednesday to help connect those impacted by Saturday's tornadoes with the vast number of volunteers and organizations ready to assist.

Volunteers set up tables of donated clothes and food inside the gym at the First Baptist Church of Farmersville (124 S. Washington St., Farmersville, TX). The American Red Cross along with grief counselors were also on hand to provide assistance.

"We have volunteers ready to go at a moment's notice," Collin Co Commissioner Chris Hill said. "We really want to do our best job of matching those in need with the specific needs that they have."

County officials went door-to-door Wednesday trying to get a better gauge on the need and the destruction.

The county has upped its damage totals to 117 resident structures and 13 commercial structures due to Saturday's tornadoes in the Copeville, Farmersville, and Blue Ridge areas.

Dagmar Schaab's home on the outskirts of Farmersville was destroyed by the tornado.

She said early Sunday morning dozens of people from town were at her door step ready to help.

She said, "I can't thank everybody enough for everything that they have done. I'm just overwhelmed."
