FORT WORTH, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A man involved in a decade old 'cold case' sexual assault was finally sentenced to prison for the kidnapping and rape of a then 19-year old girl.

56-year old Charles Anthony Green was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the February 2004 crime in which he kidnapped a 19-year-old female victim as she was leaving an auto parts store in the 2200 block of West Pioneer Park-way in Pantego.

According to police reports, following the kidnapping and sexual assault where Green told the victim "Don't let this affect your life," she drove herself to an Arlington hospital where DNA evidence was collected and loaded into a national database of convicted offenders.

According to the Tarrant Co. District Attorney's office, in February 2012, exactly eight years after the rape, Pantego Police contacted the victim and told her they identified her assailant. Even after the passage of all that time, she was able to pick him out of a photo line-up.

Green had lived in Arlington, just blocks away from the victim.

During his sentencing hearing on Friday, prosecutors presented evidence that Green had committed other sex offenses.

Following testimony from the now 30-year old victim and an independent psychological evaluation that determined Green is dangerous and unaccountable for his behavior - the Judge responded with a 50-year sentence.

Green must serve 25-years before he is eligible for parole.
