VAN (AP) — Investigators are seeking clues leading to an armed motorist after what witnesses say appeared to be a fatal road-rage shooting of a male motorist on an East Texas interstate.

A statement from the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office says it's withholding the identity of the man found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. Friday on Interstate 20 eastbound about five miles west of Van, almost 70 miles east of Dallas.

According to the statement, a witness saw unknown occupants of a gray or light-colored four-door sedan shoot at the man.
