DALLAS (CBSDFW) - A Dallas mother is hoping those who were at a South Dallas nightclub this past weekend will speak up and help police catch the person who killed her son.

Kendrick Forrest, 39, was working security at Club 1919, in the 1900 block of Riverfront Boulevard, when he was shot and killed Sunday morning.

Randy Green, 23, was also shot. As of Sunday night, officials with the Dallas Police Department said Green was in stable condition at a local hospital.

Forrest's mother, Barbara Forrest Waldon, said she received a call at 5:30 a.m. Sunday explaining that her son had been killed. "He was trying to get the people out of the way when the gunshots were going on," she sid between tears.

While losing a son would be enough to test anyone's faith, Walden said her faith has been pushed to tlimit lately.

Last week her husband died from complications of a stroke. His funeral service was just held on Saturday. "It's been tough," she said. "I don't know what God is doing... but God doesn't make mistakes."

Just hours before Kendrick Forrest was killed his family said he spoke at his father's funeral about how he put him on the right track in life.

The Dallas Police Department is asking anyone with information about this murder and aggravated assault to contact the Special Investigations Unit at 214-671-3661. Callers can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 213-373-TIPS (8477).
