OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) – A baby boy was rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening after investigators said the child was run over by a vehicle while in a car seat.

Dallas Police confirmed it responded to the call around 3:30 p.m. at the Women's Specialty Clinic along 1100 N. Bishop Avenue.

Investigators said the 18-year-old mother of the child, a friend of the mother and the child were present when police arrived.

Investigators say the friend pulled into a parking space directly in from of the mother and her infant child. The friend misapplied the accelerator and drove over the curb and onto the elevated sidewalk colliding with the infant child.

The baby was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
