3-Year-Old Boy Dies After Fall From Balcony

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A 3-year-old boy fell from a third floor balcony and died according to Fort Worth Police.

It happened at the Post Oak East Apartments at 13925 Tristan Lane around 2:30 p.m.

A family friend told CBS11 the child's grandmother was watching the children at the time, and tells her the tragedy happened so fast--she grabbed one baby from the balcony, only to realize another had already fallen.

Grace Achira rushed to this Fort Worth apartment building to try to provide some comfort to a grieving family.

"It's so painful they have not finished crying," said Achira.

Achira says the 3-year-old's father who had to be back to work this evening was about to take a nap. He asked his mother to babysit.

He went to the room, and then he told the mom please take care of the babies and then when it's time wake me up so I can go to work.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said the child likely climbed over furniture before going over the railing. Police confirm there were adults home at the time.

Achira said this family was already grieving the loss of another loved one. That wound was still fresh and now they're a mourning the loss loss of a 3-year-old.
