1 Dead, 1 Child Critical After Crash On Buckner Boulevard

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - One adult is dead and a child is in critical condition after a multi-car crash in east Dallas Thursday night. Three other adults were also injured.

Police said around 7:00 p.m Thursday, a blue Chevy Malibu was traveling north on Loop 12/Buckner Blvd at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light at the intersection of Mercer Drive and struck a red Ford Expedition SUV that had the right of way.

The driver of the Malibu lost control after hitting the SUV, jumped the median into the southbound side of traffic and struck 37-year-old Robert Meeks and his child who were both sitting on a motorcycle at the stoplight.

Witnesses say Meeks and his child were thrown from the motorcycle as the car smashed into them and another vehicle beside them.

Meeks was transported and pronounced deceased at Baylor Hospital, the juvenile motorcycle passenger was transported to Children's Hospital in critical condition with multiple broken bones.

The unidentified driver of the Malibu, a 23-year old latin male and his 21-year-old passenger, were both transported to Baylor hospital with unknown injuries as well. The driver will be charged with manslaughter.

The driver of the SUV that was first hit was also taken to Baylor for possible internal injuries.
