TALTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Head down to Kaufman County south of I-20 in the town of Talty and you'll find a yellow fireworks shack near the Old Talty Country Store.

Russell Rogers and his son Casey run the roadside fireworks stand.

Their business which is all about charity took a big hit earlier this week. One none of them saw coming.

Casey Rogers said, "Some fools came in to my fireworks stand and they stole all my fireworks."

About $5,000 worth of merchandise according to his father Russell.

He added, "They took our cash registers and we basically had to start from scratch."

For several years now on the Fourth of July the father and son duo raise money by selling the fireworks. The profits they turn all go to Casey's charity called "Casey's Heart." The charity focuses on helping homeless families with children. So you could imagine how concerned the Rogers were to think they wouldn't be able to have their annual fundraiser this year because they were ripped off by thieves.

Neighbors throughout Kaufman county heard about the misfortune and stepped huge to help. They gave hefty donations that allowed the family to replenish their stock.

They re-filled their stand and customers lined up to buy fireworks.

The family says they are thankful to their community, and they're they will now be able to contribute to the charity like originally planned.

Casey Rogers said, "It's the money getter right here. so we can get all the clothes and food we need for them."
