GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - A recent analysis of water samples in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District revealed some elevated lead content. In response, the  GCISD ran water quality tests at facilities built before 1989.

The testing took place on seven campuses ad as a result the district is now going to conduct further testing on water fountains at O.C. Taylor Elementary. All water fountains will be turned off while the testing is happening. Bottled water will be provided for students and staff.

Higher than normal lead levels were also found at a baseball concession stand sink at Grapevine High. When a second test was performed at the sink the water met quality standards, but the district is still installing a point-of-use lead reduction filtration system.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 15 parts of lead per billion parts of water is an acceptable limit.

More facts and information has been posted on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD webpage.
