DALLAS (CBSDFW) - An employee of a cell phone store shot a man attempting to rob the business at gunpoint.

According to police, a 26-year-old suspect entered the Metro PCS store in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Thursday night, and ordered customers to lie on the ground.

Authorities say that an employee, who was in the back of the store, heard the suspect's demands and armed himself with a handgun. The employee then confronted the suspect and shot him.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Dallas Police say are interviewing witnesses and the employee involved in the shooting.
