Cedar Hill Students Vote For The First Time

CEDAR HILL (CBSDFW.COM) - Some teens in Cedar Hill exercised their right to vote for the very first time on Thursday morning. The group of 18-year-old students from Cedar Hill High School loaded onto buses and traveled together to an early voting location.
Teachers had helped the teens get registered to vote earlier this year by bringing them to the county Elections Office. Then, as part of their class curriculum, the student watched the three presidential debates together and held group conversations about the arguments made by Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
So, even as just high school students, these voters were making very informed decisions.
The group of around 70 first-time voters said that they felt like they were making a real difference in the election. "My opinion counts, because this is my country," stated teenager Ariyan Williams. "What I have to say matters. Like, young people have to vote too."
Early voting runs through November 4 ahead of Election Day on November 8.
