FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — They can be cute and colorful to some but to others a lady bug lookalikes infesting homes in North Texas is causing major frustrations.

Known as Asian Lady Beetle's, the insects aren't indigenous to the area and, according to bug experts -- they bite.

"They do have a propensity to bite, and that's why we get so many calls this time of year," said Mike Piekos of Alamo Pest Control in Fort Worth.

Piekos said the insects, which vary in color and resemble lady bugs are creating a nuisance for many home owners.

The bugs are trying to escape the cold temperatures outdoors and they're making their way inside of people's homes.

Noelle Slater, a resident of Fort Worth's historic Fairmount Neighborhood is battling numerous Asian Lady Beetle's on her porch.

"My first concern would be keeping them outside where they belong," said Slater.

Piekos said the bug bites are not harmful but they can be annoying.

Removing the bugs requires a thorough spray down of the areas with insecticide.

Over all experts said Asian Lady Beetles are harmless, but encourage people to call a professional for permanent removal.

As temperatures continue to drop more and more of the pesky beetles will seek warmth inside people's homes.
