Bring It Back To Arlington
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- My first experience at the Final Four and NCAA Finals was the best experience I could have ever hoped for.
Jerry Jones built the massive room in Arlington to host the biggest parties in the world, and record breaking numbers of NCAA basketball fans showed up to party.
AT&T Stadium hosted 79,238 for the finals and over 150,000 for the Final Four and Title game combined. That was the most ever for the NCAA 2-day session.
And I can't wait for DFW to bring it back.
The basketball was lively and entertaining. The people who filled the stadium we're fully invested.
I haven't experienced anything like that since Game 5 of the NBA finals. And while it wasn't as intense as that game for me personally, I know it was for many UCONN, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Florida fans.
People may mock Jerry's enormous Death Star in Arlington. They may make fun of his title as General Manager of the Cowboys, and they make him out to be a cartoon character/circus ringleader. Heck, I've done that on occasion.
But that stadium has opened doors for North Texas to host some of the biggest sporting events in the country.
The vision he always had for the stadium is starting to unfold and kudos to the people who landed it. Without DFW actually having a sports commission, it makes things more difficult to accomplish while also allowing a little less red tape to have to maneuver.
I hope the NCAA saw the revenue stream they wanted to bring the tournament back to Arlington, because I can't wait to go again.
