ELLIS COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - I-45 northbound lanes were shut down south of Palmer at FM 879 after a motorcycle crashed into the back of a semi.

The motorcycle rider died.

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to pull over the rider of a stolen motorcycle when that rider took off.

The DPS confirms the pursuit began in Ennis at 11:51 a.m.  The motorcycle crashed within four minutes after reaching speeds over 120 miles per hour.

By 4:00 p.m. traffic was moving in one lane on I-45 northbound.  And shortly before 6:00 p.m. all lanes were back open.
