Officer Involved Shooting In SE Dallas; At Least One Person Injured

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- An officer involved shooting in Southeast Dallas has killed one person. Police say the man, who has not been identified, fired shots at a uniformed, off-duty officer, and drove his pickup truck in the officer's direction before the officer returned fire. It happened Tuesday afternoon, at the Flying J truck stop, located at the 7400 block of Bonnie View Road around 1:30 Monday afternoon.
Dallas police say it started as the officer, who has also not been identified, went to investigate shots fired near the corner of Riverside and Bonnie View Road. The officer was able to detain one of the people involved, when he saw a second person driving a pickup toward him. Police also say witnesses saw the driver fired his weapon in the direction of the officer.
Police say they are investigating why the driver fired his weapon before the officer got involved. They are also trying to determine why the suspect was driving erratically.
Police say one person has been arrested as a result of this incident.
