DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The 7-year-old boy critically injured in Wednesday's fire at the Solana Ridge Apartments on Chariot Drive has died.

Dallas Fire-Rescue Fire investigators say they received notice from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office the child, who was taken to the hospital after having CPR administered, died shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

He was trapped inside while flames engulfed the apartment and his mother and baby brother were outside. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Investigators told CBS11 on Wednesday they still don't know what caused the fire. However, the best clue is that the mother told them she could smell gas before the fire started.
