LAS VEGAS (AP) — Courtney Williams scored 22 of her 32 points in the first half and No. 10 Texas A&M beat No. 16 California 75-58 on Friday in the opening game of the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout to give coach Gary Blair his 700th career win.

He became the 16th coach in Division I history to reach that milestone in his 31st season. Only six coaches have done it in fewer seasons. He won 210 games at Stephen F. Austin, 198 at Arkansas and now has 292 at Texas A&M.

Williams was 14 for 24 from the field. She started a 33-9 run for Texas A&M (5-0) with a basket that gave the Aggies an 18-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Courtney Walker added 18 points for the Aggies.

Kristine Anigwe led the Golden Bears (4-1) with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

TIP-INS:

Texas A&M: Blair is ninth among active coaches with his 700 wins. ... This is the first week that the Aggies have been ranked in the top 10 this season, but they have made the list 67 times. They also have been in the poll for 32 straight weeks.

California: The Golden Bears outrebounded Texas A&M 36-27, but were held to 42 percent shooting from the field, compared to 51 percent shooting by the Aggies.
