Biting, Kicking & Cups With Brandi Chastain

DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - I remember watching Brandi Chastain's moment in history so vividly. I had just graduated high school and went to visit family in New Mexico.

For some reason during every moment of down time I had watched the Women's World Cup.

There was a beautiful bunch of talented soccerball women representing our country and I couldn't take my eyes off the set.

So as the big moment built, I watched my first ever shootout.

With a goal, Brandi Chastain could win the Women's World Cup for the US.

She did it, she scored and then she ripped her jersey off and fell to her knees.

It was the single most shocking and exhaling moment in sports ever for me at that point in my life.

Exhilarating because the shootout thing is amazing and awesome. Exciting because we won. Even more interesting because beautiful women were hugging on the field.

What? I was 18!

So when I was given the chance to interview Brandi Chastain on our show I - jumped at the chance. She's a sports great.

We asked her about the Luis Suarez biting incident and she had the most amazing perspective on that. One which I haven't heard anybody else express.

She said sometimes it gets so competitive that people react that way, then she pointed out Zinedine Zidane.

She also compared Lionel Messi to the greats of World Cup past.

And even hit on the Hope Solo moments.

Listen to this segment to hear all the great stuff.
