A giant alligator caught in Southeast Texas is now officially the largest ever captured alive in Texas. He's now called, "Big Tex."

Gator hunter Gary Saurage couldn't believe his eyes. He says, "There was something moving in the water that looked like a boat and it was coming fast." So, to catch the 13 foot 8 inch gator... they threw in some chicken. "The alligator just lunged for that chicken... when he did I set the noose around his neck and I mean that's when the games began," said Saurage.

They tied ropes to a tree and a truck to pull him out. Now, he's at a wildlife preserve called Gator Country with hundreds of other gators in Beaumont.
