Burning Big Rig Backs Up Traffic On I-635 In Mesquite Near Town East Mall, 1 Person Killed


MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - A burning 18-wheeler caused major traffic backups on I-635 in Mesquite near Town East Mall this morning.

One person was killed.

TX-DOT said the initial call came in at 8:45 a.m. and at least two big rigs were involved with possibly a car in between them.

A big rig carrying hazardous materials caught fire after it collided with a FedEx truck.

That in turn caused multiple other collisions.

The two truck drivers were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

A driver in another vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
