Austin gets all the musical attention, but when it comes to fun festivals, the Dallas - Forth Worth area more than holds its own. There is something for just about any taste, and the festivals all have a great atmosphere for which music festivals are famous. Here are a few of the bust music festivals near DFW.

Celebrate the end of the school year and start summer with a two-day music fest full of great dance music each night. The event features local artists Swubb, DJ Dev, and Auror, as well as several others. You can start your summer off right at this event.

There are three days, six stages and nearly 70,000 people enjoying all the shows. The music is eclectic, featuring the likes of Kansas and cover bands for many famous acts. The Allmost Brothers cover the Allman Brothers for example.  You may also discover new music here as there are several song writing and music competitions. You can even get in on the musical act yourself.

This is an unique event in that it combines great music with the finest craft and homemade beers. It is hard to say which will be the bigger draw. The nine bands are  sampling more than 200 kinds of beer. There will also be plenty of great Texas food in a gorgeous setting along the Trinity River. There are warmup parties from late July into August, to get ready for the main event. There are three stages for music, as well as other kinds of art on exhibit.

This festival started in 1978 and is all about celebrating the guitar. There will be hundreds of guitar dealers, makers and experts, as well as some great musicians. Nearly 40 musicians are scheduled including Rick Derringer and George Lynch. Many different styles of music will be played, but it is all focused around the guitar. There is also a contest for guitar players under the age of 20. Winners will play the main stage the last day.

Sue Ellen hosts concerts on weekends. This music festival is quickly becoming a nice early summer tradition. The festival is smaller than most but the music and food is bountiful and fantastic. A wide variety of musical styles and many local artists will be on hand. Sue Ellen's opened in 1989 and has two floors with great light shows, video screens, food and great music.
