Best DFW Museums With New Exhibits
Dallas is a premier destination for large-scale art exhibitions. In a previous story, "Best Museum Exhibits To See This Fall In DFW," a few were listed. Here is an update of new and upcoming exhibitions in the DFW area.
Kimbell Art Museum

www.kimbellart.orgIn "Faces of Impressionism: Portraits from the Musée d'Orsay" that runs from Oct. 19, 2014 through Jan. 25, 2015, French painting and sculpture from the late 1850s until the early 20th century are presented. Works on loan from the Musée d'Orsay include the Impressionists Caillebotte, Cezanne, Degas, Monet and Renoir. More than 70 works, including Cézanne's "Portrait of Gustave Geffroy" and "Woman with a Coffee Pot," Degas' "Self-Portrait with Evariste de Valernes and L'Absinthe" and Renoir's "Portrait of Claude Monet" and "Yvonne and Christine Lerolle at the Piano," will be on display. Artists that are part of the Post Impressionist era will be part of the discussion directed by the museum's deputy director Xavier Rey and curator George T.M. Shackelford. The museum offers half-price admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This collective art installation features publications, sculptures and lecture performances that explore the belief systems and rituals among people of Central Asia, Caucasus and Eastern Europe. New work from Concentrations entitled "Long Legged Linguistics" explores political, metaphysical and sexual emancipation through language. The Dallas Museum of Art has recently made general admission free so the world can enjoy its many collections, including this new exhibit.

Barbara Van Cleve, a National Cowgirl Hall of Fame Honoree, spent 1986 to 1994 traveling the Rocky Mountains collecting stories and capturing images of women doing difficult ranch tasks. The Museum commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I (August 1914) with a rare collection of vintage propaganda poster art from the private collection of Rogge Dunn one of Dallas' well-known trial lawyers.
