Best Golf Courses In DFW

When it comes to golfing in the state of Texas, the courses and scenery rival just about anywhere in America. There are more than 100 golf courses throughout the state of Texas and the DFW area has a lot of great courses as well, including one in Irving that hosts a PGA Tour event. With beautiful greens, tree lined courses and a variety of course difficulties, there is something in Texas for everyone who loves the game of golf. Here is a look at the best public golf courses in the DFW area.

The TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas is actually the home of the AT&T Byron Nelson PGA Tour event, making this one of the most popular DFW golf courses. This is a par-70, 18-hole course that totals 7,166 yards. For anyone who hasn't been to the TPC in a few years, the course has received a major re-design and update with a new challenging course for both professional golfers and those just out for a relaxing game with friends. This resort also has a driving range as well as areas to practice sand bunker shots and putting greens.

The Golf Club at Champions Circle is an 18-hole course that was designed by course architect Jay Morrish. This DFW golf course is managed by Marriott Golf and is actually part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel & Golf Club. This course is 7,005 yards and a par-72. Golf carts are required for play. Greens fees apply and there is also a driving range and a putting green for practice purposes. This golf course also includes a Kids Golf-4-Free program.

The official DFW golf course of the Dallas Cowboys, the Cowboys Golf Club is actually the only NFL-themed club in the world. Located in the Grapevine Hills, this is also an all-inclusive resort that is open to the public seven days a week. The course was designed by architect Jeff Brauer and is set on 159 acres of land. Cowboys Golf Club features rolling fairways, with mature trees lining the course and manicured greens. There are natural waterways and dense forests surrounding the course. On a lucky day, a golfer will also see some of the indigenous wildlife wandering the forest area. The course is a 72-par, 18 hole course.

The Westin Stonebriar Hotel and Golf Club is located in Frisco, Texas, just north of Dallas. The Fazio golf course is an 18-hole course that was designed by Tom Fazio, the man known as one of the best golf course designers in America. It has dramatic landforms, native grass, contoured greens and strategically placed bunkers, to create a beautiful, yet challenging course for any golf enthusiast. The green fee to shoot here is $125 and includes a golf cart. There are also special rates in the winter and fall, as well as after 3 p.m. in the summer months.

Located in Dallas, Stevens Park Golf Course was completed in 2011 and is one of the top courses in the actual Metroplex. This is an 18-hole course, with a competitive mix of 38 new sand bunkers to go along with the beautiful greens and fairways. There are 900 new trees lining the course, as well as thousands of rosebushes to add to the natural beauty. Stevens Park is open to the public, giving everyone who loves golf a chance to play on one of the most beautiful DFW golf courses.
